Stan Subeck died suddenly at sea on Sept. 10, 2023. Stan took over as USBF Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in 2015 and guided the USBF and its Board through many different financial issues, from finding the most complete and reasonable D&O insurance, to keeping track of our payments to and from the ACBL and to our player representatives in World Championship play. Stan produced understandable and helpful financial statements each year, as well as providing input to the USBF auditors and to taxing authorities. In addition, Stan served as the unofficial USBF photographer and also stepped up to do whatever needed doing at many USBCs. To say that Stan will be missed is probably the biggest underbid of the century.
Because Stan was usually the photographer and not the subject of photos, it was difficult to find a good picture, but here's one from Suzi's Facebook page (I think the photographer is their daugher Lisa):
