Table Result: Making 7, NS +1440

Director's Ruling:
Result stands. 11 experts were consulted, 9 bid 6D, 1 bid 6NT, 1 Passed.
2 out of 11 was not considered a substantial minority in order to deem other calls logical alternatives to 6D

Appeals Committee Ruling:
The committee determined that almost all of the pollees that bid 6D did so instantaneously, with one considering and rejecting 6NT as an alternative because it was not forward-going enough.  The committee did not think that a “significant proportion” of peers would seriously consider pass (or a non-forcing 6NT) a Logical Alternative since only a maximum of 2 could be said to be in that camp.  Therefore, the committee upheld the directors’ ruling.
