After completion of the 2017 Vanderbilt, we know that for the 2017 USBC:
Diamond & Nickell will have a bye to the Round of 8; Nickell will be the 1 seed as a result of the Positioning Points earned by winning the Vanderbilt; Diamond will be the 2 seed.
Fleisher & Fireman will have byes to the Round of 16 and will be the 3 & 4 seeds in the 2017 USBC (3 & 4 will be randomly assigned).
ten Round Robin teams will qualify for the USA1 Round of 16, joining Fleisher & Fireman. The next 4 Round Robin teams will qualify for the USA2 Round of 64 and will play head to head matches to qualify 2 of them to join the 6 USA1 Round of 16 losers in the USA2 Round of 32.
All of this assumes that 15-20 teams (including the 4 teams with byes) will enter the 2017 Open USBC. A larger or smaller entry size would change the format.
The 2017 Michael Seamon Junior USBC selected teams for the 2018 World Junior Teams Championship.

In the Under 21 division, B XIAO (Xiao-Huang, Duffie-R Jeng-Youngquist) won.
In the Under 16 division, R XIAO (Xiao-Luba-Yue, Hu-Zhou) won & went on to win the Bronze medal in China.
In the Rona division, the THAPA (Thapa-Lin, Chang-Zhang) team won.

The United States Bridge Federation junior program, directed by Michael Rosenberg, provides players under the age of 26 with USBF mentors to improve the quality of our junior teams in international competition. As part of the program, practice sessions are held on Bridge Base Online (BBO), where the juniors play team matches and the mentors analyze and comment on their play. The matches are 15 boards, IMP scored, and take about 90 minutes.
The program has recently instituted “Monday Celebrity Guest Night”, where, on the first Monday of each month, a world-class player sits in, partners a junior, and plays in a team match.
On Monday, March 6th, beginning at 7pm Eastern, the celebrity guest will be Bob Hamman.

Larry Cohen and George Jacobs will provide commentary.

Kibitzers are invited to watch by logging on to BBO, going to the “Vugraph room,” and joining the tables designated “USBFJR.”
In January Geoff Hampson participated and in February, Brad Moss.
