Strong Club:
1C=16+ 1D=10-15 2+D 5 card majors 1N=14-16 (often upgrade) 1N=15-17 3rd VUL or 4th Any (don't often upgrade) 2C=10-15 6+C 2D=10-15 3 suiter short D (can be 4-3 or 3-4 in majors). Can respond very light including 0+ points. Ranges are flexible and upgrades are frequent. Downgrades are not frequent. Light style in general, especially opening bids: almost all 11s Vul, almost all 10s NonVul. 1-level overcalls, and 3rd seat openers may be very light. Aggressive preempting style NV but not often a 5 card suit at the 2 level (can be especially w/r in first seat). Normal/soundish vul preempting style |
Vs NT: 4th from strength, highest spot we can afford from weakness (usually 2nd). 3/5th in partner's suit. Rusinow honor leads with the King asking for unblock or count.
Vs Suits: 3rd from even low from odd, Rusinow honor leads. Rusinow does not apply in these situations: Partner's suit Dummy's first bid suit Preemptor leading a different suit. Partner showed strong NT of better |
Upside down count and attitude. Regular suit preference.
Upside down remaining count. Primary signal is almost always attitude. Count when necessary and attitude already known, otherwise suit preference. We try to give the signal partner needs to know. Suit preference in trump suit common. Suit preference with idle cards as much as possible. |
